Our teams across Sub-Saharan Africa focus on a range of thematic issues, including mass violence, natural resources exploitation, land conflicts, and the climate crisis. They are made up of visual and data analysts, translators, project managers, and operations coordinators.

TIM HANSEN - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Tim Hansen is Chief Executive Officer of Videre. He is a lawyer and engineer with two decades of experience across strategic development, human rights law, peacebuilding and project management. As an engineer, Tim has built and managed operations across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Sub Saharan Africa. As a lawyer, Tim has provided advice to several Pacific states and self-determination movements, advising on international human rights law, international humanitarian law, interactions with the United Nations and on engagement with negotiation and dialogue processes.
Before joining Videre, Tim was Chief Operating Officer of peacebuilding organisation Conciliation Resources, working with people impacted by war to develop creative solutions for sustainable peace. Prior to that he was Operations Director at Reprieve, working to end the death penalty and challenging human rights abuses through strategic litigation. Tim has also co-founded an NGO providing electricity and wifi in informal refugee camps.

JESSE ROBERTS - SENIOR DIRECTOR - STRATEGY
Jesse is our Senior Director of Strategic Development. Prior to this he held positions in both London and Washington D.C. with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, focusing on promoting freedom of expression and access to information in conflict-affected and closed societies. He began his career in human rights with Global Witness, and worked in Sri Lanka for the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust during the final stages of the country’s civil war to protect local human rights defenders and support civil society development. Jesse sits on the Executive Board of Airwars, a transparency watchdog that monitors and investigates civilian harm claims in conflict-affected nations. He holds a MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London.

SENIOR DIRECTOR - PROGRAMMING
Our Senior Director - Programmes oversees strategy, delivery, security and impact of our global programming covering our own investigations and our work with partners. She has over 15 years’ experience in the human rights investigations space supporting communities to document atrocities and to seek justice in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She is a highly skilled facilitator and trainer, documentation expert and advocate. She studied Social Anthropology at Cambridge University and has a master’s degree in film at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

CHEDINE TAZI - OPEN-SOURCE INVESTIGATOR
Chedine is our Open-Source Investigator bringing experience in conflict analysis and open-source intelligence focused on Africa and the MENA region to the organisation.
During the Tigray war in Ethiopia, she monitored political and human rights developments in the Horn of Africa for the United Nations. She has published conflict reports for the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, analysed armed conflicts in Sudan and South Sudan for the International
Institute for Strategic Studies, and produced intelligence briefs to guide an agricultural group’s food security strategy in East Africa. Earlier in her career, she worked in communications at Equitas, a human rights education centre, and wrote articles for Jeune Afrique magazine.
Chedine holds a master’s in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in International Development from McGill University. She is also a published fiction writer and visual artist exploring the intersections of mental health and global social issues; and she speaks English, French and Arabic.

DIPEN SITAULA - HEAD OF FINANCE AND COMPLIANCE
Dipen joined Videre in August 2018 and is our Head of Finance and Compliance. A qualified Chartered Accountant (FCCA), he brings over 20 years of extensive experience in charity finance and accounting. With a proven track record in driving growth and impact, Dipen is committed to delivering financial transparency and operational efficiency.
He holds a MSc in Finance & Accounting and is a former member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Institute of Legacy Management. Dipen has also contributed to his community, serving as a Governor of a local school and as a Trustee for a local charity.
Before joining Videre, Dipen spent 9 years at Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, where he held various finance and legal roles.

TOM BARNES - HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT
Tom is our Head of Development. He leads Videre’s fundraising strategy; building partnerships with donors who share our vision for a more equitable approach to human rights investigations.
Before joining Videre, Tom was a fundraiser at the human rights NGO, Reprieve, leading income generation from European governments and institutional donors in the UK and North America.
Tom began his career in the arts, founding a documentary theatre company which toured contemporary performance across the UK, and leading a multi-arts venue in the Scottish Highlands.

CENTRAL AFRICA EDITOR & EXTERNAL RELATIONS COORDINATOR
Serving as a bridge between our teams on the ground and our global partners, our Central Africa Editor and External Relations Coordinator helps shape investigations and ensures that our findings reach local and international audiences as well as key decision-makers. With more than 15 years of experience in the region as a journalist and media trainer, she has built a wide network and cultivated a nuanced understanding of local conflict dynamics and the actors driving them. She speaks French and English and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations.

IT COORDINATOR
Our IT Coordinator is responsible for developing and upgrading the organisation's technology platforms and systems, maintaining secure systems infrastructure, and providing end user support. Before joining Videre he worked in the academic sector for 15 years in roles ranging from first line support to associate director levels and encompassing all aspects of IT and infrastructure support and development.

HEAD OF PROGRAMMES
Working closely with project teams, our Head of Programmes is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s programmes across locations in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia. She has over eight years’ experience managing projects and programmes for international human rights organisations, including for Media Defence, Front Line Defenders and Peace Brigades International. Holding a master’s degree in international human rights and humanitarian law and a bachelor’s degree in law, she works closely with project teams to provide support and guidance. Her work has spanned multiple regions where she has been involved in engaging with community initiatives, partnership coordination, and protection projects for human rights defenders. She speaks English, Spanish and French.

HR & ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR
Our HR & Administrative Coordinator ensuring the smooth operation of organisation’s work through human resources and administrative support. She has over 18 years’ experience in the charity sector as an office manager and administrator supporting teams locally and internationally. Holding a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies, she also has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and a Clinical Qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She speaks English and Lithuanian.

SECURITY MANAGER
With over 15 years in humanitarian security management across field, regional, and global levels with international NGOs, our Security Manager brings extensive experience in crisis response, emergency deployment, and security coordination in conflict zones and fragile contexts across Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. He is INSSA Certified Security Risk Management Professional and has a master’s level Advanced Diploma in Security Management, he has specialised training in humanitarian security, crisis management, and risk assessment. He also speaks English, French and Spanish.

ROSA CURLING
Rosa Curling is an international and UK human rights and public law solicitor. She is an expert in both areas of law, having advised, and led litigation, on issues such as freedom of information, privacy, anti-bribery, EU law, torture, immigration and refugee law, modern day slavery, right to life, right to death, welfare benefits, access to education services, death penalty, access to health services, the rule of law, international aid, unlawful detention, climate change and environmental law. She has represented clients before the UK’s High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, as well as several Tribunals, including the Freedom of Information Tribunal and the Investigative Powers Tribunal. She has also represented clients before the European Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Justice, some of the African Regional Courts of Human Rights and the International Criminal Court and is a co-chair of Videre’s Board of Trustees.

JONNY PERSEY
Jonny Persey is the Director of Met Film. He has over twenty years’ experience in producing films with credits including The Mercy, Swimming with Men, The Infidel, Little Ashes and Wondrous Oblivion. He and his team have also produced numerous documentaries, including Sundance prize-winning How to Change the World, Grierson winner Deep Water and BIFA nominated The Great Hip-Hop Hoax. Jonny studied psychology at Cambridge University and worked for several years as a youth worker and training and organisational development consultant and is a co-chair of Videre’s Board of Trustees.

URI FRUCHTMANN
Uri has been working in the film industry since 1985. He Founded Fragile Films in 1989 and has produced and directed many documentaries in locations all over the world among which were the award-winning Atlantic Hip To The Tip, All In The Family, Dar O Dur and OBI. Since 1997, he has produced feature films including Ideal Husband, Spice World the Movie and The Importance of Being Ernest. In 2001, together with his partner, he bought Ealing Studios, where Fragile Films continues to successfully produce British feature films. Uri has originated several projects involving innovative use of video cameras, including the highly successful video project conducted by BVCF, the major Conservation Organization of Mallorca. He has served on the board of several charities.

DAVID GOLDSWORTHY
David Goldsworthy is the former head of the international relations and technical cooperation at the UK National Audit Office where he was responsible for managing capacity building projects with audit offices and public accounts committees across the world. He has a keen interest in anti-corruption work and has recently established Development Action an international consultancy specialising in governance and accountability. He has served on many different charity boards and is currently on the Governments Faculty Board of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

DR. ROUDABEH KISHI
Dr. Roudabeh Kishi is a leader in the conflict data field, with expertise in data methodologies and measuring the risk of political violence. She has nearly two decades of experience in crisis research, including nearly a decade of experience in senior leadership positions at organizations focusing on conflict data and analysis. She is Affiliate Faculty at the University of Denver's Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy, where her research explores ways to improve conflict early warning systems; and she is Chief Research Officer at the Bridging Divides Initiative at Princeton University, where she leads research on tracking and mitigating political violence in the United States. She also regularly consults on projects, helping clients to best harness data to understand global crises, via the research consultancy she leads: Crisis Lens. Previously, she was the inaugural Director of Research & Innovation at the Armed Conflict Location & Event Database (ACLED), where she led their global expansion of disaggregated data collection, analysis, and crisis mapping.

DYLAN MATHEWS
Dylan Mathews is CEO of Peace Direct having joined the organisation in 2015. His commitment to supporting local organisations in the global south spans almost twenty years, during which time he has worked for a range of peacebuilding, international development and humanitarian organisations. While working for the peacebuilding think tank Oxford Research Group, he authored ‘War Prevention Works’ which profiled the role of non-state actors in conflict prevention and resolution – a publication that helped launch Peace Direct in 2004. He is the editor of ‘Working with Conflict 2’ a practical toolkit for local peacebuilders, published in 2020. Dylan is the Vice Chair of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, a global peacebuilding network based in Washington DC.

MEGAN PRICE
Megan Price is the Head of the Conflict Research Unit at the Netherlands Institute for International Affairs, Clingendael. With over 15years experience as an international Security & Rule of Law specialist, she has conducted fieldwork and analysis on stabilization policy and programming in conflict-affected settings. The main thrust of her research has focused on security provision as a negotiated political process, the governance and oversight of security arrangements, and the role of informal and non-conventional actors in security provision and oversight. Her research has been incorporated into the programs and policies of organizations such as the OECD, UNDP, EU-CSDP, and several donor governments.
